UCR 2018-2019 fees proposed

Proposed fees lower than previous years

Posted September 21, 2017

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is proposing reductions to the Unified Carrier Registration (UCR) registration fees for 2018, 2019, and beyond.

For the 2018 registration year, the fees would be reduced below the current level by approximately 9.10 percent. For the 2019 registration year and beyond, the fees would be reduced below the current level by approximately 4.55 percent. The fee reductions are proposed to help ensure the fee revenues in 2018, 2019, and future years do not exceed the statutory maximum allowed.

The current fees compared to the proposed 2018 and 2019 fees are as follows:

Number of CMVs owned or operated by exempt or non-exempt motor carrier, motor private carrier, or freight forwarder Current Fees per entity for exempt or non-exempt motor carrier, motor private carrier, or freight forwarder 2018 Proposed Fees per entity for exempt or non-exempt motor carrier, motor private carrier, or freight forwarder 2019 Proposed Fees per entity for exempt or non-exempt motor carrier, motor private carrier, or freight forwarder
0-2 $76 $69 $73
3-5 227 206 217
6-20 452 410 431

The fees for brokers and leasing companies are currently $76 per entity, but the proposal would reduce the fees to $69 and $73 per entity, respectively, in 2018 and 2019.
