Fall protection training makes OSHA’s Top 10 list for the first time

On September 26, 2017, Patrick Kapust, deputy director of OSHA’s Directorate of Enforcement Programs, presented OSHA’s Top 10 most frequently cited violations at the National Safety Council’s Congress and Expo. OSHA releases the Top 10 list annually, and the list doesn’t vary much from year to year. For example, Fall protection – General requirements tops this year’s list of the most frequently cited violations with 6,072 total violations cited. Fall protection – General requirements also topped the FY2016 Top 10 list with 6,906 total violations cited.
However, this year a new violation made the list. “Fall Protection – Training requirements (1926.503) is the ninth most frequently cited violation.
Kapust stressed these are preliminary figures as of September 5, 2017.
