EPA will form committee to consider reporting requirements for inorganic byproducts

Agency will hold public meetings on May 9, 10

Posted May 5, 2017

EPA plans to create a Negotiated Rulemaking Committee to negotiate a proposed rule addressing chemical data reporting requirements for inorganic byproducts. The rulemaking, required by subsection 8(a) of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), would apply to manufacturers of any inorganic byproducts that are subsequently recycled, reused, or reprocessed.

The negotiation process is required by the 2016 Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act, which revised TSCA, the nation’s primary chemical management law.

EPA will hold a general public meeting on the formation of the committee on May 9 and 10 in Washington, DC.
