Yard drivers, also known as yard jockeys, complete a variety of tasks daily, and they need to be able to do their job efficiently and safely. They need to know safe practices to avoid illness and injury, how the controls on their vehicle work, what to look for during a walk-around vehicle inspection, how to safely control their vehicle, and how the coupling and uncoupling process works. Having this knowledge will help them to protect themselves and others while working in the yard.
