A leaking storage tank can be a big problem. The biggest concern is that petroleum and other hazardous substances can contaminate the soil and groundwater. This is important because almost half of the people in the U.S. get their drinking water from the ground. A leaking tank can cause other problems like fires and explosions. Correctly managing your tank systems will protect your business, the people in your community, and the environment. It will also reduce risks, help you avoid fines, and keep people safe and healthy.
This training is designed to educate owners and operators about the rules they need to follow for underground and aboveground storage tanks.
After completing this training, learners will be able to:
- Explain Underground Storage Tank (UST) owner and operator's responsibilities.
- Describe how to properly manage an Underground Storage Tank (UST) containing petroleum or hazardous substances.
- Recognize how and when to follow regulations for Underground Storage Tanks (UST) and Aboveground Storage Tanks (AST).
- Discuss Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) applicability and inspection requirements.
