Construction workers often depend on ladders and stairways to take them to the heights that need to be reached. Falls from any height are a serious safety concern. Injury often affects multiple body parts, such as your back, knees, ankles, wrists, and head. Ladders and stairs are simple tools; however, proper set up, maintenance, and use are required.
This training is designed to provide workers with an introduction to the rules for stairways and ladders, as well as insight into potential hazards and protective measures that can prevent injuries.
After completing this training, learners will be able to:
- Recognize potential hazards related to stairways and ladders.
- Identify ways to minimize stairway and ladder hazards.
- Describe the proper construction, use, placement, and care in handling stairways and ladders.
- Choose the best stairway or ladder for a given job.
