This training is designed to help construction managers understand which Department of Transportation (DOT) rules apply to construction transportation.
After completing this training, learners will be able to:
- Determine who is subject to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs).
- Identify company and vehicle credentials required before operation and when additional permits are needed.
- List the primary requirements for qualifying and testing drivers under DOT regulations.
- Recognize basic requirements for hours of service and vehicle condition.
- Identify situations when the Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMRs) apply.
- Explain what programs the DOT uses to enforce the rules and ensure safety.
- Discuss Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) applicability and inspection requirements.
