Racial minorities will make up a majority of the country’s population sometime between 2041 and 2046, according to U.S. Census Bureau data. Add in age, sex, ethnicity, disability, socio-economic class, and other differences and it is clear that workplace diversity is no longer an aspiration, but a reality.
Effective training, however, can help build welcoming workplaces and prevent illegal discrimination by improving the perception employees have of their diverse workplaces. It is also important for companies to promote a fair, respectful workplace. This improves the overall workplace culture by giving employees a sense of belonging.
This training is designed to help employees work confidently in a diverse workforce. Specifically, this training will provide ways employees can handle workplace challenges and promote a fair and respectful work environment for everyone.
After completing this training, learners will be able to:
- Identify the benefits of a diverse, fair, and respectful workplace.
- Describe protected classes and examples of workplace discrimination.
- Identify when employer actions may be legally justified.
- Recognize behaviors that could be discrimination.
- Describe appropriate employee actions for addressing and reporting workplace discrimination.
- Describe ways individuals and teams can promote belonging in a respectful workplace.
