Electronic Postings

Have remote workers? Use electronic postings to fulfill Department of Labor (DOL) requirements.

The DOL requires companies to provide employees with notices of their rights. If all your employees are remote, you can use electronic postings to satisfy this requirement; when only some workers are remote, the DOL encourages the use of digital postings to supplement paper posters that need to be displayed in the office.

J. J. Keller’s electronic postings provide 24/7 online access to federal, state and local notices and are updated automatically any time there’s a mandatory change.

There are three ways to easily share your postings with employees:

  • Send notices directly to employees and track who has viewed them and when.
  • Post change notices directly to your company intranet.
  • Download poster PDFs and share with employees via email.

Electronic posting is required in these states:

  • Colorado: The Paid Leave, Whistleblowing & Protective Equipment posting, and the Colorado Overtime & Minimum Pay Standards Order (COMPS Order) postings must be made available to remote workers.
  • Connecticut: Employers with remote employees must publish the Paid Sick Leave posting on a digital platform known by and accessible to all employees or email the posting to remote workers.
  • District of Columbia: The employer must provide the Time Off to Vote notice to remote employees by any reasonable means. The employee must sign a statement acknowledging receipt of the notice. The notice is revised shortly before each election.
  • Illinois: Your Rights Under Illinois Employment Laws posting must be made available to remote workers. The Paid Leave for All Workers Notice must be provided via the employer’s regular electronic communication method when employers regularly communicate with employees via electronic means.
  • Massachusetts: The workers’ compensation Notice to Employees must be distributed to remote workers electronically or by mailing a physical copy.
  • Nebraska: Employers must make the Healthy Families and Workplaces Act posting available via electronic communication or through posting on a web-based or app-based platform if employees work remotely.
  • New York: Employers with employees in New York must make labor law posters and other posted documents available electronically.
  • Oregon: Paid Family and Medical Leave Insurance posting must be made available to remote workers. It can be provided electronically, through hand delivery, or through regular mail.
