OSHA unveils Severe Injury Report dashboard

September 5, 2024

OSHA recently unveiled its Severe Injury Report (SIR) data dashboard, an online tool that allows users to search the agency’s severe injury report database and view workplace injury trends.

SIRs refer to injuries or illnesses that result in an inpatient hospitalization, amputation, or eye loss that occur on the job among U.S. workers. OSHA reviewed a total of 88,234 SIRs between 2015 and 2023 and found that:

  • 71,978 were for inpatient hospitalizations, and
  • 23,371 were for amputations.

While the dashboard includes all reported severe injury and illness data, it does not include State Plan data. OSHA estimates the data covers approximately half of U.S. workers. The dashboard can be found at osha.gov.
