The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration will be hosting two webinars regarding the Electronic Logging Device rule (ELD). The webinars will provide attendees with information on the ELD rule and tips on enforcement during the transition phase.

On January 27, the agency will hold the Rule/Implementation Plan Webinar at 1:00 to 2:30 PM CST. This session will discuss the ELD and Hours of Service Supporting rule. The topics of the presentation will include:

  • Major components of the ELD rule,
  • ELD implementation phases,
  • ELD technical specifications,
  • The harassment provisions, and
  • Record retention and general requirements of supporting documents defined by the ELD rule.

The ELD Phase I: Transition and Awareness webinar will take place on February 11 from 1:00 to 2:30 PM CST. The first phase of the ELD rule Implementation plan will be the main topic of discussion. During this phase, from February 16, 2016, to December 18, 2017, carriers and drivers subject to the rule should prepare to comply, and may voluntarily use ELDs. The webinar will provide guidelines on how to enforce the rule during this period.
