OSHA increases penalty amounts for 2023

OSHA, along with other Department of Labor (DOL) agencies, will see an increase in penalties for 2023. The Federal Civil Penalties Inflation Adjustment Act Improvements Act of 2015 (Inflation Adjustment Act) requires the DOL to annually adjust its civil money penalty levels for inflation no later than January 15 of each year.
This year, January 15 falls on a Sunday and January 16 is a federal holiday. Therefore, new OSHA penalty amounts will become effective January 17, 2023.
