OSHA Region 3 focuses on warehousing operations

Regional Emphasis Program took effect August 3

Posted August 10, 2022

A new Regional Emphasis Program (REP) for OSHA Region 3 focuses on warehousing and inside or outside storage and distribution yards, as well as powered industrial trucks (PITs) used in those operations. The REP took effect August 3; however, enforcement will be preceded by a 90-day outreach period.

OSHA says the REP is intended to reduce injury and illness rates in the warehousing industry by conducting comprehensive inspections to address hazards that may include those associated with PITs, lockout/tagout, life safety, means of egress, and fire suppression.

Region 3 covers Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia.
