Groups recognize June as National Safety Month

Campaign focuses on reducing leading causes of injury and death

Posted June 5, 2019

OSHA joins the National Safety Council (NSC) and thousands of other organizations across the country in recognizing June as National Safety Month. The campaign focuses on reducing the leading causes of injury and death at work, on the roads, and in our homes and communities.

The NSC’s website offers downloadable materials including posters, tips sheets, and more to help spread safety messages on the following topics: Hazard Recognition; Slips, Trips, and Falls; Fatigue; and Impairment.

According to the NSC, every seven seconds a worker is injured on the job, and nearly 13,000 American workers are injured each day. The top three workplace injury events resulting in lost work days are overexertion; contact with objects and equipment; and slips, trips, and falls.
