Vanessa Allen Sutherland announces resignation as CSB Chair

Chairperson to step down in June

Posted May 24, 2018

On May 21, 2018, Vanessa Allen Sutherland announced she would step down from her position of Chairperson and board member of the U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board. The resignation is effective next month.

The remaining CSB board members will vote on a new interim executive unless the White House nominates and the Senate confirms a new Chairperson.

The CSB is an independent, non-regulatory federal agency that conducts investigations into industrial chemical accidents and makes recommendations to federal agencies to prevent future incidents. The agency’s board members are appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate.
