OSHA increases penalty amounts for 2023

7.7 percent increase effective January 15

OSHA penalties will increase over 7 percent in 2023. The new penalty amounts take effect January 15 and apply to any penalties assessed after that date.

The Federal Civil Penalties Inflation Adjustment Act Improvements Act of 2015 (Inflation Adjustment Act) requires the DOL to annually adjust its civil money penalty levels for inflation no later than January 15 of each year.
