A rough terrain forklift is a powered, mechanical device that is used to move or lift loads on a jobsite. Although this seems like a simple task, forklifts can cause serious injury or death if they are misused or if the operator isn’t properly trained on how to use the equipment safely.
This training is designed to help learners choose, inspect, and operate a rough terrain forklift in a safe way, protecting themselves and their coworkers from potential hazards.
After completing this training, learners will be able to:
- Identify the various kinds of forklifts used in construction
- Explain OSHA training requirements for forklifts
- Describe how to safely operate forklifts on construction sites
- Discuss the proper steps for pre-use inspections, maintenance, and modification of forklift
