Construction work often involves hazards with electricity. The danger of electrocution is present when a worker uses tools incorrectly or other hazards exist. It is important to recognize the possible hazards and avoid them.


This training is designed to give workers an overview of basic electrical safety. This will help them understand the hazards that exist and know how to prevent deadly electrocution incidents.


After completing this training, learners will be able to:

  • Identify the components of a complete circuit.
  • Recognize the major types of electrocution hazards in construction.
  • Describe common methods of protection from electrical hazards.
  • Recognize safe and unsafe work practices around electrical equipment.
  • Describe employer requirements to protect workers from electrocution hazards.
