Defensive Driving for Construction Sites - Online Training Course

A defensive driver is always alert and keeps a constant visual scan of their surroundings. They should look for potential hazards, decide how to appropriately respond, and take action as needed. Defensive driving is especially important in construction, where heavy equipment, large vehicles, speed differences, and constricted operating areas are common.

This training is designed to help drivers recognize potential hazards, decide how to best respond, and act appropriately to keep everyone on the road safe.

After completing this training, learners will be able to:

• Explain how to look for potential hazards
• Recognize how to effectively manage speed and space
• Describe defensive driving techniques to use when hazards occur
