Roadside Inspection Procedures for Inspectors

The ELD instructions are for the telematics transfer methods (wireless web services or email) allowed under the ELD mandate, along with visual display option. The AOBRD instructions apply to the requirements in 49 CFR 395.2, as well as 395.15.

This only applies if Roadside Inspection Mode is being used (not Data Transfer).

  1. Select date to review
  2. Scroll to review Header, Graph Grid and Event Detail Information

View Unidentified Driver Information

  1. Select date to review
  2. Scroll to review Event Detail Information

J. J. Keller® AOBRDs

View Driver's Logs

  1. Select Menu > System Menu > Reports > Duty Status
  2. To view the grid for that day while on Duty Status screen:
    1. Select the Log Date to be viewed from the dropdown menu
    2. Use the screen to scroll from left to right, and/or up & down
    3. Select Summary to see Duty Status changes that day
    4. Repeat for any date being reviewed
    5. Select Done or Back to exit

View Weekly Recap

  1. Select Menu > System Menu > Reports > Daily Hours
  2. Select Done or Back to get back to the main menu

View Failure Reports

  1. Select Menu > System Menu > Reports > Failure Reports
  2. Select the date to view
  3. Select Done or Back to get back to the main menu

View Location Codes

  1. Select Menu > System Menu > Reports > Location Codes
  2. Select Done or Back to get back to the main menu

J. J. Keller Electronic Logging Hardware

J. J. Keller has two electronic logging devices on the market. Each device has the capability of being provisioned as an AOBRD (up till 12/17/17) or an ELD. Both devices connect to the engine's diagnostic port. Engine data is transmitted via Bluetooth to the driver's smart device and then relayed via cellular to the J. J. Keller Encompass back office.
