With this in-depth, hands-on program, your trainers will be qualified to deliver training that meets FMSCA's new entry-level driver training (ELDT) requirements effective February 7, 2022.

Our instructor will teach your trainers how to deliver our best-in-class ELDT curriculum that consists of the required theory, range, and road instruction components, while also providing the materials needed to successfully conduct the training.

How The Service Works

An expert J. J. Keller driver trainer will spend 40 hours over five days onsite with your driver trainers. During that time, your trainers will learn key entry-level driver training skills, including:

  • Elements of the ELDT curriculum
  • Teaching and testing vehicle inspections
  • Teaching and testing backing maneuvers
  • Teaching and testing driving behavior
  • Teaching and testing best practices
    • Classroom presentation
    • Creating lesson plans
    • Creating training routes
    • Assessments/Evaluations
    • Professionalism
    • Coaching theory

We'll also assist you with getting registered on the Training Program Registry (TPR).

Training Program Curriculum

Our curriculum includes a combination of Theory, Range and Road training as required by the regulation. Your trainers will receive 200 hours (5 weeks) of training material that covers the 30 essential training modules required by the FMCSA, in addition to best practice modules for helping trainees become professional drivers.

  • Close‐Quarter Maneuvering

Road training focuses:

  • Progressive Road Trips – DOT & CDL‐Prep
  • Hazard Perception & Defensive Driving
  • Preparing for CDL‐A Test
