PPE in construction final rule reaches OMB

November 14, 2024

OSHA’s personal protective equipment (PPE) in construction final rule reached the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) on November 13. OMB review typically takes 90 to 120 days; this is followed by publication in the Federal Register, along with an effective date.

The final rule would clarify the requirements for the fit of PPE in construction. The wording in paragraph (c) of 1926.95 would be revised to read that the employer must ensure that all PPE must be of safe design and construction for the work to be performed and is selected to ensure that it properly fits each affected employee.
