OSHA issues HazCom corrections

October 9, 2024

OSHA identified and corrected several errors in the regulatory text and appendices of its recently published Hazard Communication (HazCom) Standard which relate to the classification of hazardous chemicals and information presented on labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDSs).

While the agency considers the errors to be minor and primarily typographical, corrections were made to avoid confusion and unnecessary costs in the regulated community due to incorporation of errors on labels and SDSs. Corrections include:

  • Rearranging and renumbering paragraph 1910.1200(d)(1),
  • Removing the phrase allowing transmission of labels by electronic or other technological means from paragraph 1910.1200(f)(11), and
  • Revising information in Appendices A, B, and C.

Search for Docket No. OSHA-2019-0001 in the Federal Register to view a table summarizing all changes.

OSHA continues to review the regulatory text and will issue additional corrections at a later date.
