ATRI seeks carrier input on in-cab monitoring systems

June 18, 2026

The American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) is calling on carriers to participate in its latest research project, Safety Impacts of In-Cab Monitoring. The research effort will assess how driver-facing cameras can help improve safety and other operational elements of commercial driving.

While ATRI has conducted prior research on driver responses to driver-facing cameras and other in-cab monitoring systems, this latest study looks to collect even more before-and-after safety metrics to find out how much of an impact these systems have on overall safety.

How to participate

Motor carriers that wish to participate in the study must submit feedback by July 24, 2026, either online or by PDF at https://truckingresearch.org/2026/06/atris-driver-facing-camera-safety-data-collection/.

ATRI emphasizes that all data shall remain confidential and will only be published as a collection of all the data combined.
