2012 Safety Professional of the Year

Keller & Associates, and OH&S Magazine recently named Eric Geibel of Swiftships Shipbuilders in Morgan City, Louisiana, as the 11th annual Safety Professional of the Year (SPOTY). Eric joined Swiftships in 2010 and developed a completely new safety program that has already lowered Swiftship's incident rate by 60% and workers' comp claims by 90%! Eric's prize package includes a $2,500 cash award, a plaque, certificate, 10 free, one-year subscriptions to KellerOnline for himself and others in his organization, and $1,200 in online training. He accepted his award at a formal ceremony held at J. J. Keller headquarters in Neenah, Wisconsin on March 26.
Matthew Carter, Corporate EHS Manager at Duro Bag Manufacturing in Florence, Kentucky, earned second place. Matthew's efforts in facility safety have lowered Duro Bag's recordable injury rate 63% in four years. He will receive a $500 cash award, a plaque, certificate, and a one-year subscription to KellerOnline.
Dennis Hilton, Vice President of Safety and Compliance at CalArk International in Little Rock, Arkansas, was awarded third place. Dennis' focus on driver training and overall road safety resulted in a 100% decrease in CalArk's driver out-of-service rate. He will also receive a plaque, certificate, and one-year subscription to KellerOnline, along with a $50 cash award.
