EPA updates Renewable Fuel Standard website

Site includes new data and information for the public and stakeholders

Posted September 25, 2018

EPA updated its Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) program website in an effort to increase transparency surrounding the program. The site includes new data and information for renewable fuel producers, fuel refiners, importers, marketers, and the public.

New information includes:

  • The number of small refinery exemption petitions received, approved, and denied for each compliance year;
  • The weekly average price of Renewable Identification Numbers (RINs) traded; and
  • The weekly volume of RINs traded.

Congress created the RFS program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and expand the nation’s renewable fuels sector while reducing reliance on imported oil. The program was authorized under the Energy Policy Act of 2005 and expanded under the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007.
