NHTSA addresses impaired driving through safety campaign

State and local officials to step up enforcement

Posted August 20, 2018

Drunk driving and the emerging issue of drug-impaired driving will receive increased public awareness through Labor Day weekend as part of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) “If You Feel Different, You Drive Different” campaign.

State and local law enforcement agencies will be stepping up enforcement during the period of August 15 to September 3 to catch drunk and drug-impaired drivers. National television, radio, and digital ads are being broadcast and regional meetings around the country are also planned to address the topic.

The unofficial end-of-summer time on the calendar through the end of Labor Day on Monday, September 3, is considered one of the busiest and deadliest times on the roads for U.S. drivers.

The campaign initiative partners with NHTSA’s familiar “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Message.”
