To beat the heat, OSHA sponsors landscaping safety stand-down

Southern states to hold safety events April 17-18

Posted April 16, 2018

OSHA is partnering with landscape industry associations and employers to sponsor one-hour safety stand-down events in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Mississippi. The events, to be held on April 17-18, will educate employees on landscaping hazards and preventing heat-related illnesses.

A safety stand-down is a time for employers to stop work and conduct safety training on a particular topic. The landscaping stand-down will focus on industry hazards such as falls, being crushed or hit by objects, electrical hazards, and heat exposure.

Several employers in the southern states, along with their employees, and the Associated General Contractors of Georgia, Inc., have joined OSHA to organize the stand-down events.
