Risky driving behaviors targeted during Operation Safe Driver Week

CVSA enforcement campaign to take place mid-July

Posted April 13, 2018

Operation Safe Driver Week — sponsored by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) — will take place July 15-21, 2018. The enforcement campaign uses educational and traffic enforcement strategies to address high-risk driving behaviors. The event observes unsafe driving behaviors by all drivers, not just those operating commercial motor vehicles (CMVs), in an effort to work toward zero deaths on roadways.

Examples of unsafe behaviors that enforcement will be watching for during Operation Safe Driver Week include:

  • speeding,
  • distracted driving,
  • texting,
  • seatbelt usage,
  • following too closely,
  • improper lane change, and
  • failure to obey traffic control devices.
