MSHA reopens comment period on miners’ exposure to diesel exhaust
Posted March 28, 2018
The U.S. Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) announced it is reopening the public comment period regarding the Agency’s Request for Information (RFI) on underground miners’ exposures to diesel exhaust. The new comment deadline is March 26, 2019.
MSHA published the RFI in June 2016 to ask for information and data on the effectiveness of the Agency’s existing standards and policy guidance on controlling miners’ exposures to diesel exhaust. The comment period closed on November 30, 2016, but was reopened until January 9, 2018, as a result of feedback at a partnership meeting in December 2016.
MSHA decided to extend the comment period for an additional year after receiving further requests from stakeholders for more time.
All comments submitted to the Federal e-Rulemaking Portal should reference RIN 1219-AB86 or Docket No. MSHA-2014-0031.
