FMCSA: A Year in Review and What to Expect in 2017

Recorded on December 15, 2016, this webcast features J. J. Keller Editors Rick Malchow and Daren Hansen as they review the last year and what to expect in 2017 on FMCSA.

The last 12 months have proved very busy for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) from a regulation and proposed regulation perspective. In the last 12 months the administration has:

  • Released the long awaited ELD mandate;
  • Provided driver's protection from harassment due to electronic logs and against coercion;
  • Addressed congress' directives from the F.A.S.T. Act (Fixing America's Surface Transportation);
  • Updated the compliance timeline of the Unified Registration System (URS);
  • Adjusted the random drug test percentile;
  • Revised versions of the Medical Examination Report and the Medical Examiner's Certificate;
  • Adjusted the monetary penalty levels and schedule; and
  • Dropped a roadside inspection as an alternate to an annual inspection.

In addition, the FMCSA is planning to release more proposals and final rules in the next 12 months. Find out what impact the rule changes will have on your operation and plan a strategy to adjust to changes and compliance dates on the horizon.
