FMCSA to host listening session on automated driving systems

Input from stakeholders to aid agency in future rulemaking

Automated driving systems (ADS) is the topic of an upcoming public listening session hosted by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).

On June 19, 2018, the agency is soliciting information on issues relating to the design, development, testing, and integration of ADS-equipped commercial motor vehicles to assist FMCSA with future rulemaking efforts. The venue is also an opportunity for FMCSA to share with stakeholders its ADS strategy and open a channel for two-way communication.

Previously, FMCSA had requested comments on issues related to ADS, and this listening session will supplement the information it received. The event is targeting stakeholders who have not yet offered input to the agency, including academia, insurance groups, and technology providers and developers. FMCSA is seeking any data or analysis on ADS that attendees are willing to share.
