DOT HIPAA statement provides details on driver drug and alcohol testing

The Department of Transportation (DOT) is reminding employers and service agents of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) statement available on its website. The statement offers details on the regulation titled, Procedures for Transportation Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing Programs.
Specifically, the regulation (49 CFR, part 40) provides the requirements for when and how to obtain written employee authorization to disclose drug and alcohol testing information.
