Senate committee schedules hearing on Mugno bid to head OSHA on December 5

The U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions has scheduled a full confirmation hearing on Scott A. Mugno’s bid to serve as the new head of OSHA on Tuesday, December 5, 2017, at 10 a.m. EST. The position of Assistant Secretary of Labor for OSHA has been vacant since Dr. David Michaels left the Agency in January.
Mugno is currently the Vice President for Safety, Sustainability, and Vehicle Maintenance at FedEx Ground in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Before that, he worked as the Managing Director for FedEx Express, Corporate Safety, Health, and Fire Protection in Memphis, Tennessee.
Mugno also has legal experience as a Division Counsel at Westinghouse Electric Corporation’s Waste Isolation Division and as Deputy Staff Judge Advocate for the Eastern Region U.S. Army Military Traffic Management Command, as well as other legal positions in the U.S. Army JAG Corps.
