OMB concludes review of walking-working surfaces final rule

Next step is publication in the Federal Register

The White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) concluded its review of the Walking-Working Surfaces and Personal Fall Protection Systems (Slips, Trips, and Fall Prevention) final rule on October 4.

Previous information stated that the revisions will include:

  • Reorganizing the rule in a clearer, more logical manner, and providing greater compliance flexibility;
  • Offering new technology (including personal fall protection systems) and industry methods;
  • Increasing consistency between construction, maritime, and general industry standards; and eliminate duplication.

The next step following OMB review, is final publication in the Federal Register which could be any day.
