New publication helps share state, federal crash data
Posted September 30, 2015
On September 28, 2015, the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA) announced the release of Mapping to MMUCC, a publication developed in collaboration with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that maps state crash information to the Model Minimum Uniform Crash Criteria Guideline (MMUCC).
MMUCC is a standardized set of data comprised of 110 elements that describes the vehicles, persons, and environments involved in motor vehicle crashes. As part of the development process for the Mapping to MMUCC publication, GHSA and NHTSA worked with states to determine how well each state's Police Accident Report (PAR) and crash database aligns with the MMUCC. The publication also includes a mapping spreadsheet that helps states to calculate compatibility ratings.
