Posted April 13, 2016

EPA published a notice in the April 11 Federal Register announcing it is preparing to reissue the Construction General Permit (CGP). The CGP, issued under the Clean Water Act's National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System, authorizes stormwater discharges from construction activities.

EPA's current CGP became effective on February 16, 2012, and will expire on February 16, 2017. Once finalized, the draft CGP will replace the 2012 CGP.

EPA is seeking comment on the draft permit and on the accompanying fact sheet, which contains supporting documentation. The Federal Register document describes the draft permit in general and also includes specific topics on which the Agency is particularly seeking comment. EPA encourages the public to read the fact sheet to better understand the draft permit.

Comments on the draft permit must be received on or before May 26, 2016.
