Carriers subject to hazmat intervention thresholds identified
Posted August 9, 2011
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA’s) Safety Measurement System (SMS) — used in the agency's Compliance, Safety Accountability (CSA) enforcement model — has recently been modified. Revisions were made to identify which motor carriers are subject to the more stringent intervention thresholds for Hazardous Materials (HM) carriers. Carriers subject to the HM thresholds are those who have been identified as transporting placardable amounts of HM within the previous 24 months.
