The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) is preparing for its 52nd annual fire prevention week, which will be held October 4 -10, 2009.
This year's theme, "Stay fire smart! Don't get burned," is designed to educate people on ways they can protect themselves from burns, the steps to take if they do get burned, and ways to keep homes safe from fire hazards.
To assist fire departments and others who are interested in creating awareness of burns and preventative measures, the NFPA has created a Fire Prevention Week website. It provides training resources, including a smoke alarm installation program guide, safety information e-cards, checklists, escape grids, and activity guides.
