The EEOC has released a new Equal Employment Opportunity is the Law (EEO) posting for 2009 to add information about the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008 (GINA), effective November 21, 2009. As a result of GINA, employers are prohibited from basing employment decisions on an individual’s genetic information. The state of Colorado has updated its Colorado Employment Security Act (CESA) (a.k.a. Unemployment Insurance) notice with mandatory changes. Due to passage of HB 1310, the agency has now added a complaint process for the reporting of misclassified employees. A fine of up to $5,000 per misclassified employee for the first misclassification also has been added. In addition, contact information to file an unemployment insurance benefit claim has been updated. This is a bilingual notice.
