NOTICE: This training course provides general HOS information only. It will be necessary - to meet the entry-level driver training requirements (Part 380) - to cover specific regulatory details based on the type of CMV (property- or passenger-carrying) your drivers will be operating. This information is addressed in the Hours of Service: A Driver's Guide (648-IDC-K and 648-CMM-P) interactive training.

Intended Audience
All commercial motor vehicle drivers.

Regulations covered
NOTICE: 49 CFR 380, Subpart E states that all entry-level drivers who drive in interstate operations and are subject to the CDL requirements must receive entry-level driver training. An entry-level driver is defined as a driver with less than one year of experience operating a CMV with a CDL in interstate commerce.

Colorado, Illinois, Oregon, Texas, Utah and Washington have adopted the entry-level driver training requirements in Part 380, Subpart E for intrastate operations.

Motor carriers in these states that have entry-level drivers involved in intrastate operations must train these drivers per Part 380, Subpart E requirements.

After completing this course, employees will be able to:

  • Understand the qualifications for becoming a CMV Driver
  • Identify the factors affecting a driver's personal and physical well-being
  • Recognize the Hours of Service regs and Record of Duty status
  • Understand the Whistleblower protection laws
